Maria de Lurdes Rosa is an historian, teacher at the History Department of NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH), Lisbon, and member of the Institute for Medieval Studies of the same institution. In 2018, she received a “Consolidator Grant” from the European Research Council to carry out the project "Entailing Perpetuity: Family, Power, Identity. The Social Agency of a Corporate Body (Southern Europe, 14th-17th Centuries)". Maria de Lurdes Rosa holds a PhD in Medieval History from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris) / NOVA FCSH. Having carried out, in parallel to teaching and research in medieval history, a vast amount of technical and research work in the field of archival studies, she has dedicated herself since 2009 to a project for the study and promotion of family archives. Under this project she has coordinated 4 books, published 10 journal articles and 9 book chapters. She is also responsible for the creation and management of a website dedicated to Portuguese family archives (https://arqfam.fcsh.unl.pt/) and two databases regarding inventories of pre-modern family archives (https://inventarq.fcsh.unl.pt/) and the completed PhD thesis in Historical Archivistics, a specialization within the History PhD course of NOVA FCSH, which she coordinates since 2010. Maria de Lurdes Rosa has coordinated the Master's in Information and Documentation Sciences of NOVA FCSH and has supervised 8 PhD thesis (plus 7 ongoing), 94 M.A. thesis, 20 internships in Archivistics and 3 post-doc grants. She was principal investigator of the project «Inventories of family archives, sécs. XV-XIX: from management and proof to lost memories. Rethinking the pre-modern archive », financed by FCT (2014-2015) and member of the International Research Program team, based at the Casa de Velazquez, in Madrid, ARCHIFAM “Les archives de familles en péninsule Ibérique (XIVe-XVIIe siècle )” (2013-2015). She was also a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, in 2015, with a research proposal on family archives in pre-modern Portugal. In March 2018 she was a visiting professor at the École Nationale des Chartes, Paris. She has authored and/or coordinated a total of 14 books, 48 book chapters and 23 journal articles about family archives, archival studies and medieval history.
