Marco Sousa obteve o grau de licenciado em Engenharia Eletrónica e de Telecomunicações pela Universidade da Madeira (UMa), Portugal, em 2014, o grau de Mestre em Engenharia Eletrónica e de Telecomunicações pelo Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL), Portugal, em 2017, e o grau de Doutor em Engenharia Eletrotécnica e de Computadores pelo Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, Portugal, em 2023. Desde 2015, é parte integrante do Departamento de Investigação da CELFINET - uma empresa CYIENT, onde tem assumido um papel de liderança na condução de atividades de investigação centradas na gestão e otimização da configuração de redes móveis. Além disso, ocupa o cargo de professor convidado no Departamento de Engenharia Eletrónica e Telecomunicações e de Computadores (DEETC) do ISEL. Os seus principais interesses de investigação incluem a otimização de redes móveis, redes de acesso via rádio e a utilização de inteligência artificial no domínio das redes móveis.
