From Researcher to Full Professor and Vice-Rector, I have worked in over 20 research projects and developed, stablished and coordinated a couple R&D Laboratories and a Spin-Off. Evaluated several R&D projects and grants for the Portuguese national funding agency for science, research and technology (FCT) and for the Portuguese Innovation Agency. Coordinated a PhD program, four MsC level graduation programmes, and several courses for secondary school teachers. Successfully advised and co-advised over 10 PhD candidates and over 10 MsC students. My main scientific areas are: Photovoltaics, Physics, Energy, Materials Science and Science Education. Along my scientific life, I have worked on many subjects: neutron scattering, phonons, magnetic excitations, design of industrial and scientific instruments, computer simulation, ultrassounds, magnetoelastic effects, crystal growth, microemulsions (disordered and crystalline), polymer gels, design of educational equipment, semiconductors, solar energy, energy systems.
