Luís C. Silva finished the integrated masters in civil engineering at University of Minho in 2013 with a score of 17/20 (ECTS scale A) and with two merit awards. After the completion of the MSc, he worked for one year in a structural engineering firm (SprenPlan). In 2015, he started the Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Minho under the supervision of Prof. Paulo B. Lourenço and Prof. Gabriele Milani. During the Ph.D., he had the opportunity to be a visiting Ph.D. researcher at Politecnico de Milano. In 2019, Luís C. Silva became a doctor in Civil Engineering (cum laude). After, he was contracted as a researcher under the H2020 Project RESIST for one year, before becoming Assistant Professor at Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias (Lisbon) from 09/2020 to 12/2021 (full time). Until January 2022, he was also an integrated research member at the Institute of Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE). Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Milano in the A.B.C. Department (rtd-a). Main research topics include the mechanical analysis of composites. In specific, a significant part of his publications delve on the seismic structural assessment of masonry structures; the development and application of advanced numerical models for structural analysis with focus on discrete approaches; and the dynamic analysis of masonry structures including seismic, impact and blast loading. Nowadays, he is particularly focused on advanced metamaterials and on the development of numerical methods for its multi-physics behaviour.
