PhD student in Biotechnology and Biosciences at the Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB), Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). The main focus of his research is the development and optimization of bioreactors for enzymatic processes using marine bacterial enzymes. He received his master's degree in biological engineering from IST in 2022 and did his master's thesis at Ghent University in Belgium, which fueled his interest in research and gave him a solid foundation in organic chemistry. Right now, his interest for research continues as he is pursuing a PhD at IST.

The course covers the principles of describing microbial cultivations using biological reaction rate models, including selecting an initial model structure and determining model parameter values using example datasets. Through case studies and hands-on exercises, participants gain a deeper understanding of these concepts and improve their ability to predict and optimize microbial cultivation processes using python as a tool.
