Ana Maria Abreu completed a 5 year Licenciatura in Applied Psychology in 2001 at ISPA - Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada, a Diplôme d'Études Approfondies (DEA) in Neuropsychology in 2002 at Université Paris 6 - Pierre et Marie Currie, and a PhD from the Doctoral School 3C - Cérveau, Comportement et Cognition in 2006 at Université Paris 6 and Kings College London. Ana Maria Abreu has been dedicated to researching the relationship between the mind, brain, and behavior, mainly through experimental psychology methods. Ana Maria Abreu has been a member of several competitive grants. She co-coordinated the Ph.D. program in Cognition and Language Sciences and was head of the Neuroscience for Innovation in Communication and Education Lab (NICE_lab) at the Instutute of Health Sciences, UCP. She is now Associate Professor of Psychology at Forward College and a Researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS), the Research in Health Unit of UCP where she investigates: the impact of exercise on cognition, the perceptive and communication profile of children with ASD, and the impact of ICTs on cognition and mental health. Ana Maria Abreu has supervised 3 Ph.D. theses, 7 MSc dissertations, and 1 Laurea to completion. Currently, she is supervising 4 Ph.D. theses and 1 MSc dissertations. Ana Maria Abreu has published/submitted more than 60 research works (including scientific articles in journals, chapters, and one book edition). Ana Maria Abreu has won several research grant awards, is an Ad Hoc reviewer for more than 20 National and International Scientific Journals, and is a member of the editorial board of four peer-reviewed scientific journals. She has lectured on many topics, from 'Neurosciences,' 'Cognition,' and 'Neuropsychology' to 'Statistics,' and 'Research Methods', in Portuguese, English, Italian, and French at the Ph.D., MSc, and BSc levels.
