Beatriz L. Pires-Lima (BLPL) is a Ph.D. Student in Sustainable Chemistry at Faculty of Sciences (University of Porto) with a FCT-funded scholarship (2022.14060.BD) for her doctoral project: Synthesis, Pharmacological, and Biological Evaluation of Pyridine-Based Melanostatin Derivatives. She is also an Invited Assistant Professor at the Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences Area of School of Health of Polytechnic University of Porto (E2S – P.Porto). She has a Master's Degree in Biochemistry (2021) from Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto where she had previously obtained her Bachelor's in Chemistry with Complementary Formation in Chemistry (2019). All academic career allowed her to acquire knowledge and experience in the areas of Organic Chemistry, more precisely in Medicinal Chemistry. Recently, she has also developed competences in the area of neurotoxicity with the training certification “NeuroTOX: from theory to pratice of neurotoxicity biomarkers” by Medicine Faculty of the University of Porto. During her academic career, BLPL has co-authored 3 research papers in journals of high impact factor, one of whom was awarded the IACOBUS Research Papers Award 2024. She has also participated in several national and international scientific events presenting 13 communications as first author and 34 as a co-author (both oral and poster). BLPL has co-supervised 2 undergraduated students and was also a tutor of the Synthesis of Pharmaceuticals course included in the Master's degrees in Chemistry (Q4024) and Biochemistry (Q4114) at FCUP (2021-2024). In addition to the scientific and laboratory skills that she has developed over the course of her academic career, she also possesses organisational, proactive and teamwork skills that are due both to the scout activities in which she has been involved (both nationally and internationally) and to the projects of the University of Porto's Chemistry Student Association, in which she has been involved since the second year of her degree.
