Ana Cláudia Paiva-Santos obtained her PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology in 2018. She started her pedagogical intervention as Teaching Assistant during her PhD and then became Invited Assistant Professor. During the period 2020-2024 she was an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra (FFUC), where she taught Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Technology and Nanotechnology; and became Associate Professor at the end of 2024. Since 2021, she has been the Responsible Professor of Dermopharmacy and Cosmetics of her faculty and university. She has been ERASMUS+ Outgoing Coordinator since 2020, and the Student Support Office Coordinator of FFUC since 2021. She is invited frequently by the cosmetic industry for skin formulation talks, teaches in Dermocosmetics Specializations, and is a scientific revisor in several Q1 peer-reviewed journals. She is a researcher of REQUIMTE/LAQV, and her research is focused on natural products-based biomimetic nanosized biomaterials for cancer, including pancreatic and skin cancer, wound healing and cosmetics. She published > 230 papers and 14 book chapters, edited 1 book, in nanotechnology and nanomedicine, and submitted two patent applications, as a result of performed work with several national and international collaborations (h-index 55, > 9,200 citations - Scopus). Most papers were published in high-ranked journals, being positioned above all median scores of the University of Coimbra. She has received funding for two FCT Projects in the area of nanotechnology for biomedical applications as Principal Investigator (PI), and she is a Researcher of additional recent Projects related to the aforementioned topics. She has experience in supervising BSc, MSc and PhD students. Ranked among the World’s Top 2% of Scientists (Stanford University) for four consecutive years (2022–2025), she was also recently honored with the 2025 Scientific Publications Incentive Impact Award by the University of Coimbra and the Santander Portugal Foundation. She was personally invited to serve as an Individual Expert Evaluator for the European Commission in 2025. Her role in adjudicating highly competitive calls, alongside her evaluation work for other leading global research foundations, further highlights the significant impact and international reach of her scientific career. Her trajectory also includes an extensive parental leave throughout 2024.
