Invited assistant professor in Civil Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico and CERIS Integrated Researcher. He completed his PhD on the use of recycled aggregates derived from construction and demolition waste in the production of structural concrete. Research in the area of concrete with recycled aggregates from different origins and made with cementitious materials from several industrial by products. Author of several publications concerning sustainable construction, including three Highly Cited Papers (as first author). He participated in 4 FCT Projects on concrete with recycled aggregates and on replacing cement with more sustainable binders (magnesium oxide, alkali-activated solid municipal waste and alkali-activated CDW). In 2 of these 4 Research Projects, he was the managing director of the Project. He is currently participating in another 3 Research Projects on sustainable concrete, being the Principal Investigator in one of these projects. Productivity: 1 book chapter; 40 papers (20 as first author; 34 in high-level International Journals; 32 in Q1 or Q2 journals in relevant categories); H-index of 19 / 20 (Scopus / Google Scholar); Total citations of 1874 / 2614 (Scopus / Google Scholar). He has several collaborations with different universities around the world (Spain, Italy and Brazil). He is Guest Editor of 4 Special Issues (3 in Q1 or Q2 journals) and he is Editorial Board Member of journals Sustainability (Q1 journal), Materials (Q2 journal) and Frontiers in Built Environment (Q2 journal).
