Avellan Astrid studied in France, worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Carnegie Mellon University (USA) for 3 years, has been a research fellow at the Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal) from 2019 to 2022 and is now a Tenured Researcher in France (CNRS, Toulouse). Her research focusses on the fate and the impact of inorganic (nano)phases in the environment at the biota interface. She aims to highlight the role of environmental changes and biological activity in the biogeochemical cycle of these phases. Given the high level of complexity of these systems that require to capture multiple parameters (from the responses of organisms to changes in elemental speciation and ecosystem responses), her research is interdisciplinary, multi-scale and highly collaborative.
