My name is Rosa Freitas, and I was born on March 6, 1976, in Santo Tirso (Porto District). At the age of 17, I enrolled at the University of Aveiro (UA), where I earned a degree in Biology (1997) and completed a master's in Coastal Zone Sciences (1999) in cooperation with the Hydrographic Institute. During my undergraduate studies, I participated in the ERASMUS program in Norway (University of Bergen) during the second semester of my fourth year. Between 2000 and 2005, I pursued my PhD at UA in the field of Coastal and Marine Systems Ecology, focusing on mapping and characterizing benthic habitats. During my PhD, I also took courses in the Biology and Geology Teaching degree program at UA, successfully completing all subjects (with only the final internship remaining to complete the degree). Since 2011, I have been working in the field of Ecotoxicology, with research focusing on Global Change in transitional environments, specifically on the impacts of climate change and pollutants on marine invertebrates, particularly species of high ecological and economic relevance. Currently I am Associate Professor at the University of Aveiro (UA), Portugal, specializes in Ecotoxicology, focusing on climate change and emerging pollutant impacts on marine invertebrates. With a PhD in Coastal and Marine Systems Ecology (2005), she has over 300 international publications and ranks in the top 2% of influential researchers globally (Stanford University). I am currently responsible for coordinating the Curricular Internships for undergraduate and master's students in the Department of Biology at the University of Aveiro. During this academic year I supervised 7 PhD students, 6 Master's students, 5 undergraduate students, 1 ERASMUS student. Since 2010 I have supervised or co-supervised 68 1st cycle students (33 in the last 5 years), 27 2nd cycle students (16 in the last 5 years), 23 PhD students (14 in the last 5 years), 6 post-docs, and 16 ERASMUS students (8 in the last 5 years). It should be noted that currently, of the 7 PhD students I currently supervise (5 as main supervisor), 5 are students who develop theses in collaboration with foreign institutions, therefore having foreign co-supervisors. The multidisciplinary research work I have been developing fosters collaboration between various Portuguese and international research groups, both through the projects and networks I participate in or coordinate, as well as through shared supervision of students. Currently, I am the coordinator of an Ibero-American Scientific Network (RIESCOS: Ibero-American network CYTED), and I am a member of a project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. Up to the date of this application, I have been the lead coordinator at UA for 4 international projects (3 in the last 5 years) (COCKLES, ASARISAFE, AimCOST, MESHATLANTIC), 2 national projects (both within the last 5 years) (BISPECIAl and NIPOGES), and 1 international scientific network (in the last 5 years). These projects have established a collaboration network with teams from several European countries (Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland) and non-European countries (China, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, French Guiana, USA, Canada), with funding for UA exceeding €1.3 million. I have also been a team member in 18 national and international projects, 8 of which were within the last 5 years (total funding for UA ˜ €2.4 million), and 4 cooperation networks (bilateral cooperation and COST Action). In terms of administrative activities, I have served as the principal examiner on 8 thesis defense committees outside the University of Aveiro (6 PhD and 2 master's defenses).
