Beatriz Sales Bandarra completed the Integrated Master in Environmental Engineering with Specialization in Technology and Environmental Management in 2018 at the University of Coimbra (UC). In 2019, she was awarded a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) grant from COST, conducting research at ECT Oekotoxikologie GmbH (Germany) in the field of ecotoxicology. Subsequently, she received a Ph.D. grant from FCT and was awarded her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering in 2024 by the UC. The host institutions for the Ph.D. project were the Chemical Engineering and Renewable Resources for Sustainability (CERES) research centre and the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM). In 2024, she joined the project GeoSusTailings - Geotechnics for Safe and Sustainable Mine Tailings Management as a researcher. She is currently a Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE), conducting research in the fields of sustainability and Life Cycle Analysis. She has published 8 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and 2 book chapters, presented her work at scientific conferences, and has been involved in MSc thesis supervision (5 co-supervisions and collaboration in 2 more). She has delievered a lecture in a COST Action training school and colaborated on academic and professional training courses. In her professional activities, she interacted with industrial partners and multidisciplinary research teams. Her fields of research have been ecotoxicology, physicochemical characterization of waste, mechanical behaviour of residues (geotechnics), waste classification, circular economy, sustainability, and Life Cycle Analysis.
