I have a bachelor¿s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Universidade Federal do Paraná (Brazil, 2000), a master¿s degree in Technology and Society from Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (Brazil, 2002), and a master¿s degree in Museum Studies from the University of Southampton (England, with distinction, 2002). My master¿s thesis, ¿Brasil or Brazil?: Exhibiting the Country and the Community in England,¿ received the Agnes Tmar Balzsky Prize, awarded by the University of Southampton. I completed my PhD in Art History in 2017 at Southern Methodist University (USA), with a fully funded scholarship from Meadows School of Art. My doctoral research focused on the history of photography, visual culture, modern and contemporary art, and the intersections of race, gender, and ethnicity in the Americas and the Caribbean. Currently, I am completing a post-doctoral internship at Universidade Lusófona (Lisbon), investigating issues related to decoloniality in museums and contemporary art, as well as the representation of African culture and history by Brazilian heritage institutions. I have published papers and participated in conferences in Brazil, Peru, France, Portugal, and the United States. Besides my academic research, I have been working with museums and other artistic and cultural organizations in Brazil and the United States for over fifteen years. Of note is my post-doctoral research project on historical photographic processes at the Moreira Salles Institute (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and the participation as a researcher for the exhibition Radical Women: Latin American Art, 1960-1985, organized by the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles) in conjunction with the Getty Foundation.
