Bruno Xavier de Freitas is a Temporary/Assistant Professor at the Department of Materials Engineering at Sao Paulo State University since 2021, and level A - Technological and Industrial Development Researcher at University of Sao Paulo. He earned his PhD in 2020 from University of Sao Paulo, with a thesis entitled “Processing and characterization of bioabsorbable magnesium alloys”. During his PhD studies and from partnership with other researchs groups he gained experience on different topics as Thermomechanical processing (e.g. hot rolling and hot extrusion), Alloy design of Mg-based alloys with rare earth elements, Furnace design, Vacuum technology, Heat treatments, Calculation of Phase Diagrams (CALPHAD), Powder metallurgy, Dental Materials, Crystallography and X-ray diffraction, Rietveld refinement, Synthesis and coatings procedures of polymeric materials. B. X. de Freitas was team member in research projects that were selected to carry out measurements in the powder synchrotron X-ray diffraction beam line of the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS). Investigating structural parameters in glass-ceramics containing Li2Si2O5 prepared with different CeO2 contents (XPD-2017-0186) and the defect structure of the Cr5Si3 and Cr5B3 compounds (XPD-2018-0142). Moreover, he was a volunteer professor at University of Sao Paulo, teaching quality control to the technical chemistry course. Currently, his main interests include alloy design of Mg-based alloys with rare earth elements for bioabsorbable applications, thermomechanical processing development of Mg-based alloys to produce bars, plates and tubes, criation of phase diagrams and thermodynamic databases of lightweight alloys and evaluation of polymeric coatings for temporary implants. He has 15 papers published in ISI Web of Science journals (h3 index) and 11 contributions to national and international conferences.
