Chichorro, M., is actually an Assistant Professor at Faculty of Science and Technology (FCT), New University of Lisbon, lecturing Structural Geology, Geological mapping, and Geology of Portugal, Remote detection and methods of Absolute geochronology (Graduation in Geological Engineering, MSc in Geologic engineering and Georesources, MSc in Paleontology and MSc in Education). Researcher of the GeoBioTec (GeoBioTec, GeoBioSciences, GeoTechnologies, and GeoEngineering), scientist at the research group “Sedimentary Basins and Paleontology (SBP) – sedimentary geology, tectonics, paleontology, biostratigraphy, evolution, global changes, geoheritage (FCT-NOVA). His specialization domain is “Internal Geodynamic Geology and tectonics” and present research interests include Isotopic and geochronological studies to unravel the geological history of metamorphic terranes, to decipher and reconstruct the Paleogeography of old terranes, to constrain the timing of burial/exhumation and constrain the timing of ore formation. In past years, I developed multivariate skills in shear zones such as mapping, tectonostratigraphy, magmatism, WR-geochemistry, structural analysis of metamorphosed tectonites, genesis/geometry of gold deposits, and 4D- Geology Modelling. He has also experience in Heavy Mineral studies and cathodoluminescence imaging analysis assisting in situ U-Th-Pb zircon geochronology and in situ zircon O isotopic analysis. Part of his work experience in U-Pb geochronology has been acquired, operating the SHRIMP in Canberra (RSES-ANU, Australia), the SHRIMP in Beijing (Beijing SHRIMP Centre, China) and the LA-ICP-MS in Dresden (Senckenberg Naturhistorische Sammlungen Dresden, Germany). The participation on two ISPET seminars (see below), on several international meetings and respective field trips (IGCP 497 meetings - Évora 2006, Galicia 2007; Frankfurt 2008 Final meeting of IGCP 497-499, GONDWANA 14-15 meetings -Brasil and Spain and GAC-MAC.AGC-AMC 2012 meeting, St. John`s, Canadá, encourage the collaborative research studies produced in the last years with researchers from several international institutions in order to develop research in U-Th-Pb geochronology applied to provenance, basin analysis, stratigraphic correlations, crustal growth processes, deformation, and ore deposition. Chichorro has been particularly focused on the history of the Ediacaran-Cambrian basins of northern Gondwana that were later deformed-metamorphosed in the Upper Paleozoic Variscan orogeny and involved on the crustal growth and recycling processes. Chichorro contributed to 33 papers (indexed in the Science Citation Index), that proved the potential of the study of U-Th-Pb isotopes to the knowledge of South Portuguese Zone, Ossa-Morena Zone, and Central Iberia Zone: 1) dating detrital/inherited zircons for provenances studies and paleogeographic reconstructions; 2) dating igneous zircons and magmatic pulses to understand the processes of magma crystallization; 3) dating igneous and detrital zircons to accurate the stratigraphy; 4) to estimate the timing of displacement in major shear zones and dating metamorphic-hydrothermal events.
