Beatriz Janicas is a passionate cognitive neuropsychologist with a strong academic and research background in cognition, category-specific deficits, and decision-making. With expertise in neuropsychological testing, EEG, MATLAB, and computational modeling, she has actively contributed to the fields of language processing, working memory, and value-based decision-making. Beatriz holds a Master’s in Cognitive Neuropsychology (2021-2023, GPA: 8.3 Cum Laude) and a Bachelor’s in Psychology (2018-2021, GPA: 18). She further enriched her academic experience through an Erasmus+ exchange program in psychology (2019-2020). Currently, she is a Research Assistant at CogBooster (since September 2024), she has aided in TMS-EEG data collection and neuropsychological testing for patients with brain lesions, specifically examining semantic and lexical access deficits. Her skill set includes scientific presentation, academic writing and patient work. As a Junior Researcher (since August 2023), she explores the relationship between metabolism and value-based decision-making in the “Appetite for Risk” project. Her work involves literature reviews, neuropsychological testing, and online data collection. In her Master’s Thesis (2023), she investigated the impact of retrospective cues in working memory on long-term retention using EEG and eye-tracking methodologies, showcasing her expertise in data analysis, MATLAB, and BioSemi EEG systems. Her internship at OB1-Reader (2022) focused on computational modeling of human reading, examining the effects of syntax on comprehension. Thanks to this work, Beatriz co-authored a 2024 publication in the Journal of Cognition on sentence processing and neural responses in reading. Previously, she worked on True Times (2021), a study on circadian rhythms and cognitive performance in children and adolescents, where she wrote a brief report on online neuropsychological testing. Beatriz is capable of communicating in multiple languages, and she possesses strong social and personal skills, including leadership, teamwork, and scientific communication. With a keen interest in neuroscience, brain imaging, and cognitive research, Beatriz Janicas is an emerging scientist dedicated to advancing our understanding of the brain and cognition.
