Dr. Atul Jamale (AJ) is a fulltime researcher at the Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering, CICECO-Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, Portugal. He works in the field of Materials Engineering and Solid-State Electrochemistry. A particular scientific scope of his activity is the processing of electro-ceramics. The present thrust area of his interest is the development of composites, solid state ionic conductors, and MIEC materials for gas separation and energy efficient solutions including energy conversions and storages, catalytic conversion of hydrocarbons, ferrites, and ferroelectric technologies. AJ received his PhD in physics in 2015 under the faculty of science from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, India, and master´s degree in 2008 from the same institute. In 2015, he joined the university of Aveiro as post-doctoral fellow (grant, NEW-INDIGO/0001/2013) to conduct the work on multifunctional composite nanomaterials for low temperature fuel cells. In 2017, the 2nd grant (FCT PTDC/CTM-CER/6732/2014) was issued to work on high temperature multi-ionic functional membranes for the separation of carbon dioxide. He also completed one month training on thin/thick film electrophoretic deposition technique at CG-CRI Kolkata, India, in 2017, and 15-days internship on instrumentation of CO2-seperation technique at the Chemical Engineering department of Newcastle University, Newcastle, UK, in 2018. Up to now, AJ has participated in 5 projects, including recently grabbed JECS mobility and internal summer with science grants. He is also pursuing other Cost action grant (anticipated to apply for upcoming call). He co-authored 27 (+2 in pipeline) papers in Q1 peer-reviewed journals (h-index of 12, 430 citations), being 60 % as first and corresponding authors. He also disseminated research activities through book chapters (1), papers in international proceedings (4), review articles (1), poster presentations (26), invited lectures (2), and oral presentations (3) in national and international symposiums, conferences, and workshops. During his research carrier, he has interacted with several national and international (Spain, Tunisia, Poland, France, South Korea, and India) dignities, as evidenced from authorships in scientific communications. He has played a jury role in evaluation of 1 doctoral thesis. He successfully supervised 7 students for master thesis, 1 bachelor student under the summer with science scheme (grant UID 50011-CICECO) and served the technical assistance role for 2 years to help the graduate students in conducting the laboratory experiments. He holds the teaching experience of 6 months to graduate students. He has been felicitated by 2 honors (UGC meritorious fellowship for research excellence and Eklavya scholarship for academic excellence) by the Indian government. Currently he is an active reviewer of Elsevier, Springer, RSC, and Wiley publishers, and gave the editorial service for Membranes (MDPI publisher), frontiers in energy research (https://loop.frontiersin.org/people/1607795/overview), international journal of materials science and applications (http://ijomsa.com/editorialboard).
