Current winner of the 2022 T. David Sisk Research Excellence Award in the category "Best Original Article", offered by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), Fábio Carlos Lucas de Oliveira is a physiotherapist-researcher with a PhD in Rehabilitation from Université Laval (Quebec City, Canada). He completed his bachelor's in Physiotherapy at the Universidade Presidente Antônio Carlos (Brazil, 2004) and a master's degree in Biokinetics at the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education (FCDEF) of the University of Coimbra (Portugal, 2011). He was a guest lecturer on the postgraduate course in Traumatology and Orthopaedics at the School of Physiotherapy at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. He completed post-doctoral training in “innovative rehabilitation technologies” at the Université de Montreal (Canada), in clinical research in low back pain at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (Canada) and in “transcranial magnetic stimulation” for the clinical treatment of chronic low back pain at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation and Social Integration (CIRRIS). He is also an associate editor of the BMJ Open Sports & Exercise Medicine since January 2021 and a Sports Health editorial board member since August 2022. He is a reviewer for international funding agencies such as CAPES and CNPq, a member of scientific committees for several major international events, and a reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals. After some years of clinical practice, he decided to investigate clinical aspects related to rotator cuff injuries. His main research interest is in randomised controlled clinical trials investigating the effects of rehabilitation methods, techniques and resources on the symptoms and functional limitations of upper limb musculoskeletal injuries (e.g. rotator cuff-related shoulder pain). Other areas of interest include sports injury rehabilitation, medicine, health and performance in tennis, new technologies in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, neuromuscular control of the shoulder and sensorimotor training. At the same time, he has been a physiotherapist on the World Tennis Tour and International Tennis Federation since 2010 and tennis player Radu Albot's personal physiotherapist on the ATP World Tour. His main fields of expertise are prevention, optimised recovery and rehabilitation of professional tennis players.
