Beatriz Torgal Martins is a PhD Student in Organic Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical and Biological Technology António Xavier (ITQB-NOVA), Oeiras. She completed her Master's in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2017/09 at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP) and her Bachelor's Degree in Medicinal Chemistry in 2015/07 at the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã. From February 2018 until September 2019, she worked on a research grant at iBET, at the Food Functionality and Bioactives Laboratory, and at ITQB, at the Bioorganic Chemistry Laboratory, in the project ''Prevention of rheumatoid arthritis: a supplement with hydroxytyrosol in refined olive oil'', financed by Fundação Amélia de Mello and Sovena. She received an Honourable Mention in March 2020 and a Best Poster Award in March 2019. In the last years, she had the opportunity to present 15 posters and 3 oral communications at international and national conferences. She is the first author of two review articles in international journals and the author of a chemistry paper. During these years of laboratory experience, she participated in the organization of several events and was also responsible for the orientation and integration of several students.
