J Custódio graduated in Technological Chemistry by the Faculty of Sciences of Lisbon University (Portugal) in December 2002, completed a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Oxford Brookes University (United Kingdom) in December 2009, and completed a Post-Doctoral Research Programme at LNEC - National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (Portugal) - on concrete deterioration by internal expansive chemical reactions in December 2016. Since then, he has been a Research Officer at the Concrete, Stone and Ceramics Unit of LNEC’s Materials Department, working mainly on concrete durability, in particular with internal expansive chemical reactions (IECR). Since August 2023, J Custódio is the Head of the Concrete, Stone and Ceramics Unit of LNEC’s Materials Department. He works in the areas of Engineering Sciences and Technologies with an emphasis on Civil Engineering, Engineering Sciences and Technologies with an emphasis on Materials Engineering and Exact Sciences with an emphasis on Chemistry.
