Dr. Afsaneh L.Sanati received her Ph.D. in Nanochemistry from the University of Tehran, Iran, in 2019. She is a prolific researcher with over 30 publications, including 7 highly cited articles and 15 Q1 journal articles, accumulating over 3,200 citations (h-index: 21, excluding self-citations). Her expertise is reflected in her roles as a member of the editorial board for Progress in Chemical and Biochemical Research and the Asian Journal of Nanoscience and Materials, as well as a guest editor for Carbon Letters. She is also an active reviewer for leading journals such as Fuel, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Food and Chemical Toxicology, and Chemosphere. During her postdoctoral research (2020–present), Dr. L.Sanati transitioned her focus from synthesizing and characterizing novel active materials under laboratory conditions to the scalable fabrication of integrated systems using a diverse range of electrochemical materials. Her academic journey includes an MSc (2012–2014) under the supervision of Professor Hassan Karimi, a distinguished scholar in chemistry and agriculture, and a Ph.D. (2014–2019) under the guidance of Professor Mohammad Reza Ganjali, a top 1% scientist in nanomaterials and electrochemical sensors. Her doctoral research involved synthesizing carbon-based materials such as GO, rGO, and GQD, developing nanocomposites, and designing electrochemical sensors. She also served as the team leader in Professor Karimi’s lab. In the final year of her Ph.D., she was awarded a prestigious grant from the Iranian Ministry of Science to undertake a six-month research visit to the University of Coimbra (UC), where she collaborated with Professor Christopher Brett, a prominent figure in electrochemistry. This experience enhanced her technical expertise, teamwork, and communication skills. In 2020, Dr. L.Sanati joined the Soft and Printed Microelectronics Laboratory (SPM) at UC, where she gained hands-on experience in state-of-the-art fabrication methods for printed and stretchable electronics and batteries. She explored the transformative potential of liquid metals in smart electronic device fabrication, combining her graphene-based materials expertise with SPM-UC's capabilities. Over three years, she developed innovative composites for flexible transparent conductors in solar cells and optoelectronic devices, as well as a record-breaking supercapacitor. This research resulted in 17 publications, including 5 highly cited articles, despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. L.Sanati has mentored three MSc students and one Ph.D. student. In 2023, she was awarded the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus (6th Edition) and currently serves as a junior researcher at ISR Coimbra.
