Antoine Simões Almeida completed the Master Degree in Biochemistry, in 2017, and the Degree in Biochemistry in 2015, both at the University of Aveiro. Since 2017, Antoine Almeida has been developing research, with a Research Fellowship at the Department of Chemistry & Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) from the University of Aveiro. During his Master degree work, he developed research on the assessment of the inflammatory potential of inhalable organic aerosols present in an urban atmosphere. With this research work, he has published 1 research article in Environmental Science & Technology (ES&T, Journal impact factor 2020: 9.028; Q1 (92.88%) in Environmental Sciences), which has been selected for the front cover of ES&T (January 21, 2020, Volume 54, Issue 2). Antoine Almeida has also authored 1 review paper on the "contribution of water-soluble extracts to the oxidative and inflammatory effects of atmospheric aerosols" in Environmental Pollution (Environ. Pollut., Journal impact factor 2023: 8.9), co-authored in 1 book chapter, 4 articles, and co-organized 1 workshop. He has worked as a Research Fellow in the Exploratory Project "Exploring the impact of atmospheric organic deposition in ocean surface in a changing climate scenario" (Reference: IF/00798/2015/CP1302/CT0015) in 2018, and in the project "AMBIEnCE - Impact of atmospheric multi-stressors to coastal marine systems in a changing climate scenario" (Reference: PTDC/CTA-AMB/28582/2017) from 2018 to January of 2021. Currently, he is working as a PhD Student fellow (PhD grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, reference: 2020.05804.BD; ), under the subject of "Contribution of water-soluble organic matter and its structural components to the oxidative and immunomodulatory effects of inhalable fine urban air particles". His research interests encompass the area of analytical and environmental chemistry, with emphasis on of the water-soluble organic matter from air particles and the biological/toxicological responses they elicit, as well as the chemical aging and deposition of atmospheric organic air particles and their interactions with biological systems.
