I am a social anthropologist studying international development, religion, self-accomplishment and education in East Africa. I am based at CEI-Iscte (Lisbon), where I am a tenure-track Principal Investigator in African Studies. At CEI-Iscte, I hold an FCT Stimulus grant (2022-2028) and serve as a PI for ERC Starting Grant AfDevLives: The Afterlives of Development Interventions in Eastern Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, 2022-2027). In addition, I am a deputy PI on a Swiss National Science Foundation Sinergia project called FamilEA: The Remaking of the Family in East Africa (2023-2027).
