Teresa Gonçalves Ribeiro is a postdoctoral researcher in the area of Microbiology at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto (Portugal), and is a researcher in the Associated Laboratory Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences (UCIBIO). She is graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and obtained her PhD degree in Microbiology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. Since the completion of her PhD, she has initially worked in a translational SafeFood industrial biotechnology project, with the aim of providing safer and healthier food products for the public, improving economy and export, and reducing food waste. Currently, her main research interests rely on bacterial taxonomy for accurate identification and discrimination of bacterial species/types recovered from different human sources, including phylogenetic, genomic, biochemical, and Fourier-Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) exploitation, molecular epidemiology of AMR bacteria, and on the impact of urogenital microbiome in the human health or disease. She develops research on microbial taxonomy to accurately delineate the taxonomic position of bacterial species (e.g. members of Citrobacter, Lactobacillus, Limosilactobacillus and Gardnerella genera) isolated from human and non-human sources, and on methods (FT-IR spectroscopy) with increased resolution, turnaround time and sensitivity at a low cost for the differentiation and identification of clinically relevant bacterial groups (clones). TGR published 22 articles [13 in high-impact (>80% Quartil-1/Decil-1) peer-reviewed journals in Microbiology, and 9 in Systematics (5 in official journal of record for prokaryotic names-IJSEM)], reflecting a high degree of impact (>300 citations; Google Scholar: Ribeiro TG), implication (most as 1st/2nd author, 1 as corresponding-author), and international collaboration with experts from Portugal, France, Brazil, Israel, Poland, and Germany. She has authored/co-authored >50 oral/poster communications in prestigious national/international congresse, and integrated organization/scientific committees of 2 events (Summer School, MicroMundo) and evaluation panels (Postdoctoral fellow, Master, projects). TGR participated in ~30 scientific events, courses and worskshops, supervised graduated/undergraduate students and received 10 awards. She is reviewer/co-editor of several peer-reviewed journals, and actively implicated in outreach and raising funds activities. Since 2012, she is involved in teaching activities at Faculty of Pharmacy University of Porto.
