Alexandre Ventura is an Associate Professor at the University of Aveiro, Department of Education and Psychology. PhD in Education in 2006, Masters in Educational Sciences in 1998, Post-graduate degree in Educational Sciences majoring in Educational Administration, in 1994, and Graduation in Portuguese and French teaching in 1987. All his higher education has occurred at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. He has been a Visiting International Scholar at Educational Testing Service (ETS), in Princeton, New Jersey, USA, in 2002, ERASMUS Program Coordinator at the Educational Sciences Department, University of Aveiro, Professor at the Catholic University of Brasília, Brazil, in 2015, and Senior Inspector at the Dubai School Inspection Bureau, KHDA, United Arab Emirates, 2017-2020. Furthermore, he has assumed several government positions: Deputy Minister for Education, Portugal (2009-2011), Deputy Chief Inspector at the Portuguese Inspectorate of Education (2007), Member of the Executive Committee of SICI - Standing International Conference of Inspectorates (2007), President of the Scientific Council for Teacher Evaluation, CCAP (2008-2009), Member of the National Specialist Team for the OECD Project Review on Evaluation and Assessment Frameworks for Improving School Outcomes, Inspector of the Portuguese Inspectorate of Education, 1999. He is a Member of Editorial Boards and Reviewer of more than a dozen Scientific Journals. He has published extensively in the field of education and he has supervised many PhD theses and Master's dissertations. His main research interests include institutional evaluation, program evaluation, teacher evaluation, school inspection, private supplementary tutoring, school bullying, and educational leadership.
