I completed my integrated Master’s degree in Civil Engineering – Hydraulics, Water Resources and Environment at FEUP . During the Master, I did a semester of Erasmus at University of Granada, Spain. My dissertation, on the topic of hydrodynamic and morphodynamic numerical modelling of the Douro River estuary for climate change scenarios, and allowed me to obtain important skills on numerical modelling and hydro and morphodynamic topics. Having gained interest in research, with an emphasis on numerical modeling, in December 2021 I got a research grant in the scope of the project ATLANTIDA – Platform for the monitoring of the North Atlantic Ocean and tools for the sustainable exploitation of marine resources. My tasks included developing novel and integrated solutions to increase coastal resilience to climate change. Thus, I had the opportunity to carry out 3D mobile bed physical model studies of two non-conventional coastal protection solutions: living breakwaters and an offshore wave energy park. Moreover, in collaboration with NTNU and SINTEF, Norway, I developed a hydrodynamic numerical model for the tested living breakwaters. Furthermore, to validate/calibrate the experimental and numerical work with situ data, I organized and collaborated in a measurement campaign in Esposende (June 2022), which gave me experience in the planning/execution of field works. I would like to stress that the collaboration with NTNU and SINTEF was the result of a Short Term Scientific Mission, which I carried out in Norway. This work resulted in the presentation at the WecaNET European conference in Ghent, Belgium. My interest in Nature-based Solutions has led me to attend several conferences on the subject as well as to help supervising a Master thesis on artificial reefs (2023). In addition to participating in ATLANTIDA project, I have collaborated indirectly on other projects on coastal engineering. These collaborations resulted in three indexed journal publications. Having finished the ATLANTIDA project, I joined the ICS (Institute for Sustainable Construction, an Interface Institute of FEUP/UPORTO) in Oct. 2023, and am currently involved in consultancy studies for INDAQUA and Matosinhos City Council. This gives me the opportunity to improve my skills solving practical engineering problems. Recognizing the importance of updating and enhancing competencies, I have attended various courses, namely a numerical modeling course on the use of DualSPHysics; a PORTOS course on coastal and port dynamics; a Python programming course with the aim of being able to handle data efficiently for pre- and post-processing of numerical and physical modeling; and a Workshop on Advanced measurement Techniques & Experimental Research, hosted by the Oskar von Miller Hydraulic Laboratory, Chair of Hydraulic Engineering at TUM. Being dissatisfied with the lack of existing training in probabilistic modelling in the design of coastal structures, together with the ICS, I am collaborating in the organization of ProCoast'24 course
