Isabel Maria Alves Natividade Campos

Isabel Campos got her PhD degree in Marine and Environmental Sciences at the University of Aveiro in May 2016. She is a chemist with a huge experience in analytical and environmental chemistry, and eco(toxicology). Her main research topic is the eco(toxicological) effects of potentially toxic elements (namely polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals, pathways, mobilization, dynamics, fate, and impacts) on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. In the last 5 years, she has been deeply focused on establishing an integrative line of research on the impacts of wildfires on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems She is a Researcher under the scope of the EU project SPRINT- Sustainable Plant Protection Transition: A Global Health Approach, at the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM)/University of Aveiro. Currently, she collaborates on 3 projects (SOILCOMBACT, POLLINATE, and TRUESOIL) and she is a member of the protocol of collaboration with the Public Company of Water Supply (EPAL) on the study of the impacts of wildfire on the water quality of one of the main reservoirs for human supply in Portugal. In 2019 she became an expert member of the EIP-AGRI Focus Group of the European Commission for agricultural productivity and sustainability under the theme: Protecting agricultural soils from contamination. She has been involved in 11 EU and National projects and is a member of the Coastal Forest Scientific Commission that advised the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forestry (ICNF), on its post-fire management of areas that burnt in October 2017. Isabel has participated, as (co)convener of 4 sessions SETAC Europe meeting. She has (co) supervised 5 MSc and 5 BSc students and 10 research fellows. .She has published 31 papers in Q1 journals, 3 book chapters, and a large number of communications in international meetings. Her work was cited 729 times, corresponding to an h-index of 14.
