Cristina Caramelo Gomes

Cristina Caramelo Gomes is an Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture and Arts at Lusíada University of Lisbon. She teaches in Architecture and Design degrees, where she coordinates de modules of ICT and Human Factors. She holds a PhD from Salford University, UK (2000) “A conceptual model to implement telework in Lisbon Metropolitan Area”, where she studied the impact of remote work in dwelling typologies. In the year of 2011, in the same university, she made her postdoctoral research project with the title of “INCLUSIVE/SMART dwelling standards in the 21st century - An attempt to improve individual perception and use of indoor layouts.” This research project was funded by FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (Foundation for Science and Technology) In the year of 2016, she was awarded the habilitation degree by Lisbon School of Architecture, Universidade de Lisboa. She has successfully supervised various doctoral and master students. She is a researcher in the research centres CITAD (research centre of Territory, Architecture and Design) – Lusíada University of Lisbon, and CIAUD (research centre of Architecture, Urbanism and Design). Her research interests are in the broader filed of Smart and Inclusive Environments, with a particular focus on aspects of humanisation of built environment by the use of ICT. Research interests include Architecture, Design, User Experience, ICT/BIM, Human Factors, Smart Environments, Human Centred Design, and Social Sustainability. She is the author and co-author of various book chapters and indexed articles and presented numerous papers nationally and internationally. She collaborates regularly as a reviewer in reference journals and conferences.
