Fernanda Maria Monteiro Leão

I started my professional activity in 1988 as a bookkeeper and in 2001 I became a founder partner of an accounting firm (Pinto & Leão, Lda.). In 2002 I decided to extend my education by starting a degree. My academic background is in business management, with special expertise in accounting and taxation. I have a degree in Business Sciences (2007) from ESTG, Polytechnic of Porto, and a PhD in Accounting (2016) from EEG, University of Minho. In 2006, I became a consultant in accounting and taxation in several companies, and in 2007, I joined the School of Technology and Management as an invited lecturer. I have also been a member of CIICESI from its foundation. My scientific work has been dedicated to the field of accounting by looking at the relationship between accounting and society, using interdisciplinary approaches and qualitative and quantitative methods. Over the years, I have conducted my research by joining other national and international researchers. I have also influenced the careers of many other researchers and contributed to the scientific community by doing peer review, supervising, and participating in academic juris, and conferences. My contributions to society include my teaching, particularly in Business Simulation, where I contribute to the successful integration of students into the job market by sharing my experience and making them understand the business environment they will encounter. Additionally, the services provided to several companies as a consultant in accounting and taxation, have helped their management and decision-making promoting thus their economic development and, consequently, the progress of society in general.
