Catarina Vilas Boas is a master's degree in Environmental Engineering of University of Aveiro, Portugal. She is a research fellow at the Department of Environment and Planning of University of Aveiro. Her main research focus is the waste (biological sludge, residual forest biomass, refused derived fuel) pyrolysis for biochar, biofuels and high added-value compounds. She has been developing and operating experimental bench-scale and prototype-scale facilities to study the pyrolysis process of biomass and sludge, planning experiments, physico-chemical characterization of the pyrolysis products (biochar, bio-oil and gases), and processing the experimental information to develop relations between feedstock, operating conditions and products properties, including mass and energy balances to the pyrolysis process. She has already published an scientific article as first author and other as co-author about biological sludge pyrolysis process.
