Marta Barão has a bachelor in Biochemistry (2017) and a Masters's in Cellular and Molecular Biology (2019) by the University of Coimbra. During her master thesis, under the supervision of Doctor Lino Ferreira and Doctor Hugo Fernandes, she focused her work in the therapeutic capabilities of extracellular vesicles and microRNA for tissue regeneration. After her master thesis, she enrolled as a research fellow in the advanced therapies group and initiated a collaboration with Doctor Ning Landén at the Karolinska Institute (Stockholm) to learn a new human ex-vivo wound model. In 2021, she was granted an individual phD fellowship from FCT and entered in the phD programme of Biomedicine and Experimental Biology (BEB) from the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC) in the University of Coimbra. Under the supervision of Doctor Lino Ferreira, and co-supervision of Hugo Fernandes and Doctor Ning Landén, she is developing her phD thesis cantered in engineering extracellular vesicles to enhance wound healing. During her phD, she also attended several conferences including a poster presentation in the XXVII School of pure and applied biophysics on extracellular vesicles: from biophysical to translational challenges and was part of the organizing committee of the ETRS & SPCE-TC Joint Meeting 2023. Additionally, she also participated in outreaching activities such as researchers' night and in collaboration with different groups and institutions.
