Helena Ferreira Lopes da Silva Santos

Helena Ferreira Lopes da Silva Santos finished her Pharmaceutical Sciences Master studies in Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra, in September 2017. Her master's work focused in polimeric nanobiomaterials, drugs biorelease and nano-safety. Currently, she is doing her PhD in Systems Biology PhD student with Prof. Ana Margarida Fortes in Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, in collaboration with Stellenbosch University, South Africa with Dr. John Moore as co-supervisor, and Copenhagen University, Denmark, with Dr. Bodil Jørgensen. Her current work is focused on Vitis vinifera grapes, transcriptomic, metabolomic and cell wall alterations upon ripening, and different biotic stresses, such as Botrytis cinerea, Erysiphe necator and Esca Complex trunk disease. Analytic techniques used include GC-MS, FTIR, CoMPP, qPCR, and RNAseq. The PhD also is leading to development of skills in R, LaTeX, bioinformatics, and other data processing analysis tools. Her work has also been directly involved in the lab management of the research group FFGB, being co-responsible for inventory management, purchases and suppliers¿ contacts.
