Artemizia Tatiana Santos Évora obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Universidade de Évora, Escola de Ciências e Tecnologia, and completed her Master`s in Biochemistry and Biomedicine at Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências in January 2024, achieving a combined BSc+MSc average of 16/20. She developed her master’s thesis at the NeuroSignal Lab, coordinated by Professor Doctor Dora Brites at iMed, Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Farmácia, obtaining a final grade of 19/20. Her research focused on the development of a miR-124-3p-loaded exosome strategy and validation of its therapeutic potential in a multi-compartment microfluidic device containing neuron-glia that recapitulates age-AD pathological features as part of a competitively funded research project (PTDC/MED-NEU/2382/2021). Her work resulted in a first-author publication in a Q1 peer-reviewed journal (Évora et al., Frontiers in Pharmacology, 2025). Artemizia has also actively contributed to scientific dissemination through multiple oral and poster presentations. She was selected to give an oral presentation at the 54th Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology, presented her research work at the 4th Biochemistry Master’s Meeting at the Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Ciências, Lisboa and co-authored 6 additional oral presentations. She also presented 4 first-author posters at national conferences and contributed as a co-author to 1 poster at prestigious conferences, including the 2nd Symposium on Alzheimer’s Disease; VII/VIII Symposium of the Portuguese Glial Network; 54th Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology; and AD/PD24. In November 2024, Artemizia was awarded a research fellowship at the CNR-NANOTEC, Institute of Nanotechnology in Lecce, Italy, within the EU and PNC Italian Health Ministry funded project “Preclinical Development of Gene Therapy for Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa” (PNRR-MR1-2022-12376725). During this fellowship she gained expertise in 3D printing, microfluid devices fabrication, and human induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (hiPSCs). In April 2025, she was competitively granted a researcher fellowship at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Nova Medical School, to work on how metabolism regulates neural stem cells in normal and tumor brains. Artemizia has developed technical expertise in neuroscience, stem cell research and induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) culture, with proficiency in RT-qPCR, imaging, immunocytochemistry, and bioinformatics software including ImageJ, iBright, and GraphPad. Her main research areas of interest include Neuroscience, Neural Stem Cells, Genetics and Oncology, with a particular focus on the impact of metabolism and regulation of neural stem cells on neural stem cells in the context of tumors.
