Helder Fontes received a MSc degree in 2010 and a Ph.D. degree in 2019, both in Informatics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal. He is an Assistant Researcher and the manager of the Wireless Networks (WiN) area at INESC TEC, and since 2009 he has participated in 30+ national and EU research projects and has published 35+ papers in international conferences and journals. He has been advisor of 18 MSc theses, 9 BSc projects and 30+ summer internships, and his currently co-supervising 2 PhD students. His research interests include wireless networking simulation, emulation, and experimentation in the scope of emerging scenarios such as airborne and maritime, with a special focus on AI-based cross-layer optimization, and repeatability and reproducibility of experiments using digital twins of wireless testbeds such as Wi-Fi and 5G.
