Manuel Vieira received a PhD from the University of Porto, Portugal, in 1995. He is a Full Professor at the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Portugal. Manuel Vieira is the director of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering of the Doctoral Program in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and, at the University of Porto, of the Doctoral Program in Advanced Materials and Processing. At INEGI (Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering), he coordinates the Materials and Manufacturing Processes research group of LAETA (Associate Laboratory of Energy, Transports, and Aeronautics). His research interests are on advanced manufacturing processes and mechanical and microstructural characterization of metallic materials.
