Sara Machado has a Ph.D. in Information and Communication on Digital Platforms from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto. Her research titled "The relationship between social media use and youth voter turnout in Portugal" was awarded a 4-year Ph.D. grant by the Foundation for Science and Technology (ref: 2020.05202.BD). She has a Master's Degree in Marketing from the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto and a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto. She has been teaching communication modules at the University of Porto as an Invited Assistant since 2021. She is a research collaborator at CITCEM – Transdisciplinary Research Centre «Culture, Space and Memory» and a member of the international research networks Digiworld - Digital Election Campaigning Worldwide and CamforS - Campaigning for Strasbourg.
