I have been developing scientific activity in the context of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. Initially, as a master student (2008/2009), I focused on the analysis of Parenting styles, expressiveness family's environment, adverse experiences and their relationship with emotional schemas and psychopathology. This work enabled me to acquire skills in data collection, bibliographic review and scientific writing and, simultaneously, to deepen the understanding of the mechanisms associated with psychopathology, particularly emotional regulation. This curiosity in the nature and the treatment of psychopathology led me to pursue several complementary trainings in different treatment approaches but particularly focusing on the:, Third Wave Therapies (advanced course – October 2015 to July 2016), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (international workshops and congress – June 2016), Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy (workshop May 2012; course from October 2017 to December 2017). Combining my clinical experience with research I have been collaborating with the Psychology Research Center (University of Minho) since September of 2015 where I have been ensuring and therapeutic screening and intervention in the Research Center´s Psychology Service and have been assigned tasks within the research unit in psychotherapy and psychopathology in data collection, results´ analysis and diffusion. My interest in understanding processes associated with therapeutic efficacy impelled me to collaborate since September 2016 in the research team of Professor Miguel M. Gonçalves – Change Process in Psychotherapy - , studying the processes by which clients change or fail to change in psychotherapy. I received training in the Innovative Moments Coding System (IMCS) —a qualitative measure to study the process by which clients change in psychotherapy¬— and have been coding several sessions, which has allowed me to develop clinical sensibility and knowledge in the analysis of qualitative data. Also, I collaborated in a project that focused on the analysis of psychophysiological markers of change in psychotherapy. In line with my past interests in treatment approaches I am doing my PhD in Center for Research in Psychology (CIPsi) in the School of Psychology's of Minho University, about a new protocol - Feedback-Initiated Narrative Development) – that was developed to promote clients’ competencies and resources to improve psychotherapy´s efficacy.
