Her research has evolved from aquatic systems to soil, with a growing focus on environmental sustainability and climate-smart agri-soil management. She earned her PhD in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Biology from the University of Aveiro in 2022, graduating with distinction and merit. As part of the NanoFASE project, and in collaboration with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, she gained solid experience in toxicokinetics, metal analysis using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), and FAIR data practices. In her first postdoctoral position, she worked on the NATURAL project at CICECO and the Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering, applying layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanostructures as crop fertilisers. This work expanded her understanding of soil–plant interactions and the use of nanomaterials in sustainable agriculture. Currently, as a postdoctoral researcher in the TRUESOIL project (EJP SOILS), she focuses on SOC sequestration in biochar-amended grasslands, specifically working on POM/MAOM fractionation, GHG sampling, and microclimate data interpretation. She’s developed strong skills in soil organic matter characterisation and has been actively involved in extensive fieldwork under changing environmental conditions. She has published 19 peer-reviewed articles, most in top-ranked journals, and her work has been cited in policy documents across Europe and Canada—demonstrating both scientific depth and real-world impact.
