Luís Barros was born in Guimarães, Portugal, in 1992. He completed his master's degree in Industrial Electronic Engineering, at the University of Minho, Portugal, in December 2016, with the work consisting of the study and development of a new topology for a microinverter with an energy storage for solar photovoltaic applications. In May 2023, he completed his doctorate with work related to the study and development of power electronic converters, interfaced with a battery energy storage system and a solar photovoltaic system, for the railway electrical system. At the beginning of 2017, he began his research activity at the ALGORITMI Center, University of Minho, Portugal, and has also been a Guest Professor at the Department of Industrial Electronics since September 2017. In April 2024 he joined the Smart Systems team of the CeNTI - Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials, cooperating in different research and development projects. He has published 9 articles in specialized journals, 4 articles in book chapters, and 11 articles in international conferences. He received 4 awards and honors, relating to: i) best article at the SESC conference; ii) Top 21 Projects in the Texas Instruments Innovation Challenge European Design Contest 2016 (Top 7 in the Industrial category); iii) diploma of pedagogical merit; iv) second place for the best doctoral thesis in the apprentice prize. In his professional activities, he interacted with 20 collaborator(s) in co-authoring scientific works.
