Sara Silva is a PhD student at the Doctoral Programme in Environmental Science and Engineering at the University of Aveiro (UA), integrated member of the Associated Laboratory Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) (https://www.cesam-la.pt/sarafmssilva/). S. Silva completed her Bachelor's degree in Zootechnical Engineering (2011–2015) at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), University of Lisbon (UL), and her Master's degree in Organic Agriculture (2019–2022) at the Escola Superior Agrária de Coimbra, Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (IPC). Her Master's thesis applied the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology to diets for growing pigs, through which she developed skills in environmental sciences. Between 2015 and 2022, Sara worked as a zootechnical engineer in the pig farming industry, where she managed a pig production facility. In 2022 and 2023, she also worked as a technical manager at the Agricultural Cooperative of the Municipality of Ovar. Currently, Sara is a research fellow under the InsectERA Mobilising Agenda. S. Silva is a researcher at the UA focusing on life cycle assessment (LCA) tools applied to agri-food systems. —such as environmental LCA, life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA), social life cycle assessment (SLCA) and nutritional life cycle assessment (nLCA).

One of its aims is to allow PhD students to showcase the work they are developing within their doctoral programmes. In 2024, the event included the creation of an organising committee made up of students from different doctoral programmes, of which I had the privilege to be a part. Although I contributed to various tasks (e.g. drafting the participation rules for the Best Presentation Award), my main contribution was in the task related to Special Issues.
