Américo J. S. Alves received his BSc in Chemistry from the University of Coimbra in 2015 and his MSc in Chemistry (specialization in Advanced and Industrial Chemistry) in 2016. He completed his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (2023) at University of Coimbra, with a thesis entitled ¿Novel Spiro-Lactams as New Antimicrobial Agents¿. Currently, he holds a position as a PhD researcher and is conducting research activity at the Coimbra Chemistry Center (CQC) ¿ Institute of Molecular Sciences (IMS). Américo Alves is the author/co-author of 11 research papers published in international journals, and has presented 17 oral/poster communications at national and international scientific meetings. He was co-supervisor of 9 academic degree dissertations (BSc and MSc) and co-supervisor of 4 master students¿ rotation internships. Américo Alves received an honourable mention for the best PhD thesis in Organic Chemistry (2023), and was a team member of the projects that won BfK Ideas 2020, R2 Value¿s 2022, and Gilead Génese 2023. He is also co-founder of BSL Pharmaceutics and Molecular JE. His research interests are in the field of heterocyclic chemistry, flow chemistry and medicinal chemistry.
