Ana Luísa Maulvault is a Marine Biologist specialized in Fisheries and Aquaculture (MSc degree, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Algarve, FCT-UALG) and holds a PhD degree in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability Studies (Faculty of Sciences and Technology, NOVA University of Lisbon, FCT-UNL). Currently, she is an Assistant Researcher at IPMA I.P. - Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere, where she is the Head of the Live Marine Organisms Laboratory (LABVIVOS), and Member of the Animal Welfare Committee (ORBEA). She is an Integrated Researcher at UCIBIO - Applied Molecular Biosciences Research Unit, and an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of NOVA University, lecturing Food Toxicology, Food Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Nutrition. She also collaborates in different disciplines of bachelor, Masters, PhD and post-graduation programs of the Faculty of Sciences of Lisbon (FCUL), presenting topics related with Climate Change, Pollution, Seafood Quality and Safety, Marine Ecology and Physiology. She is a member of the Portuguese Society for Laboratory Animals (SPCAL) and of the Portuguese Pact for Plastics, where she collaborates in 2 working groups. She has participated in 27 R&D and Transnational Cooperation projects (Task/Work Package Leader=10) funded by national (FCT I.P., Mar2020, PRR) and European (FP7, H2020, EFSA, EEA Grants, Interreg) agencies, and is the Principal Investigator of project Aqua-CLIMADAPT - Eco-innovative solutions for aquaculture adaptation to climate change challenges: investigating immuno-metabolic responses of farmed fish using integrated multi-omics approaches (PTDC/CTA-AMB/0592/2021) and is IPMA coordinator of PRR project NEWPACK (of the VIIAFOOD AGENDA). She authored 63 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed international journals, most of which specifically devoted to Emerging Contaminants, Seafood Safety, Marine Physiology and Ecotoxicology, Aquaculture, and Climate change impacts in Marine Organisms. She also authored 5 book chapters and performed >100 conference presentations (poster and platform), holding an H-index=29, i10-index=50 and 2400 citations. She is an Associate Editor of the journal "Frontiers in Marine Sciences", and Invited Reviewer of >10 international peer-reviewed journals. She organized 8 Training and Dissemination Events (3 courses, 3 workshops/conferences, 1 exhibition and 1 Summer School). She supervised 3 PhD students (ongoing=3; principal supervisor=2), 11 MSc students (ongoing=4; concluded=7; principal supervisor=5, co-supervisor=6), and several undergraduate/bachelor students. She was distinguished with an Innovation and Research Award, awarded by Expo Fish Portugal. Her main Research Lines are: 1) Effects of environmental stressors (climate change and emerging contaminants) in marine ecosystems and seafood safety; 2) New stress/welfare biomarkers in marine animals; 3) Climate-smart aquaculture; 4) Risk Assessment, applied to seafood consumption and emerging chemical contaminants in seafood.
