Sara Capas Peneda Vieira Pereira has a DVM degree (Mestrado Integrado) from the University of Porto (2016). She is currently a completing a PhD degree in collaboration with Laboratory Animal Science research group at i3S and a residency for the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ECLAM). Her work focus on identifying the underlying mechanisms of perinatal mortality in laboratory mice by applying a mixed approach based on behavioural assessments and pathology, having developed a necropsy protocol for newborn mice to identify viability indicators. Her main research interests lie on laboratory animal welfare, behaviour and pathology. She also takes part, as a regular collaborator, in the FELASA accredited Laboratory Animal Science Course held by i3S.
