She has a Ph.D. in Health Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Coimbra, an Advanced Specialization Master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology, and a graduation degree in biochemistry. She is currently working as an assistant researcher in epidemiology for health and welfare at the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda. Her research interests are significant, including biochemical mechanisms related to cerebrovascular dysregulation in dementia, as well as broader public health concerns aimed at improving well-being throughout the lifespan. She has published two book chapters and 36 articles including nine focusing on biochemical mechanisms associated with dementia, and the rest addressing epidemiology and public health, which have been published in SCOPUS and ISI Web of Knowledge indexed scientific journals. She has presented numerous communications at national and international conferences. She is also actively involved in various scientific journals as a reviewer and belongs to the editorial board of one. She has contributed as a researcher in three projects funded by FCT, two of them in the field of pharmacoepidemiology and one in the field of neurosciences.
