Dr Mariana Bernardino is a senior researcher at CENTEC, team leader of the Marine Environment group. Having a PhD in Physics (Meteorology) by the University of Lisbon, she worked as a researcher in several Portuguese state Institutes (Hydrographical Institute (IH): 2003-2007, Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA): 2010-2015) being integrated in several national and international research projects related to wave modelling and to climate change. Dr. Bernardino was responsible for the EC -Earth simulations for CMIP5, performed at IPMA Atmosphere and has built contacts with many international researchers working on dynamical downscaling for climatic purposes. She also belongs to the to the COWCLIP community. Dr Bernardino was the principal investigator of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology ( FC T) funded research projects CLIBECO (EXPL/AAG-MAA/1001/2013) and CLIMENA (PTDC/EAM_OCE/28561/2017) and has a very good experience of participating in Portuguese national and international projects and has expertise in the implementation of both wave models and meteorological models at global and regional scales and performing energy assessment studies, both offshore wind and waves. Since February 2022 she is also Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Scientific Area of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the Mechanics DepartmentInstituto Superior Técnico. Dr Bernardino has published 17 research papers, 12 book chapters and 15 conference papers.
