Bruna Velosa Ferreira is a Clinical Hematologist Specialist at the Hemato-Oncology Unit of the Champalimaud Foundation, where she provides comprehensive care to patients with hematologic malignancies. She is actively involved in translational and clinical research, with a particular focus on multiple myeloma. She holds an updated Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification (ICH GCP E6 [R2]) and plays a key role in recruiting patients for clinical trials. Bruna earned her PhD (2015–2021) under the mentorship of Professor Cristina João at NOVA Medical School and the Champalimaud Foundation, where she investigated the role of liquid biopsies as clinical tools for multiple myeloma. She successfully balanced her PhD studies with raising two children (born in 2017 and 2019) while completing her Hematology specialization in 2019. Her research focuses on identifying novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers to improve patient outcomes. She has presented her work at national and international conferences and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals. Her recent studies include a review on liquid biopsies in multiple myeloma (2020), a real-world study on extracellular vesicle proteins as biomarkers (2022), research on the immune microenvironment in multiple myeloma (2021), and novel approaches for extracellular vesicle isolation (2024). Bruna is actively engaged in clinical research, serving as a principal investigator (PI) and sub-investigator (SI) in 16 international clinical trials on hematologic malignancies, sponsored by pharmaceutical companies and academic groups. These studies focus on innovative therapies, including bispecific antibodies, small-molecule inhibitors, and immunotherapies. Earlier in her career, as a specialist resident, she published six peer-reviewed articles, co-authored a book chapter, and presented 14 posters and four oral communications at scientific meetings. She also contributed to five abstracts, delivered three invited public lectures, mentored medical students and residents, and co-investigated three multi-center clinical trials. Additionally, she completed a Clinical Fellowship in clinical trials at a leading hospital in London. Her work underscores a strong commitment to translational research and precision medicine in hematologic oncology.
