Marcya Gonzáles-Santiago holds a Ph.D. in Management with a specialization in Marketing from ISCTE-IUL (Portugal), where she was awarded a doctoral scholarship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor (Professor Auxiliar) at Universidade Europeia, teaching undergraduate courses in Tourism and Hotel Management. In addition to her teaching duties, Marcya actively engages in guest lectures and academic collaborations at ISCTE — with a particular focus on cruise tourism. She also supervises master’s students in Hospitality & Tourism Management and delivers invited lectures to PhD students in research and publication courses. Marcya’s academic background includes a Master’s degree in International Marketing & Management from ISM University of Management and Economics (Vilnius, Lithuania), following her Bachelor’s and Licentiate degrees in Tourism and Hotel Management from Universidad de San Martín de Porres (Lima, Peru). Prior to her academic career, she spent over ten years in the tourism and hospitality industry, primarily with a luxury cruise company — an experience that inspired her first scientific publication in 2019, which examined the influence of blogs on cruise passenger behavior. Her research focuses primarily on marketing, tourism, hospitality, and digital technologies, including AI, VR, AR, and robotics, particularly in the areas of cruise tourism, sustainability, and customer behavior. As a published author and peer reviewer for scientific journals, Marcya has presented her research at international conferences, including IBIMA, Euromed, AMA (American Marketing Association), and RMER.
