João Pereira dos Santos is an UKRI Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Economics and Finance at QMUL, sponsored by Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Actions Fellowship. He is an Assistant Professor at ISEG- University of Lisbon (on leave), an IZA- Institute for Labor Economics research affiliate, and a research fellow at IfW Kiel and RWI- Leibniz Institute for Economics Research. His research interests are at the intersection of empirical public economics, policy evaluation, urban economics, and economic history. He received his PhD from Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE) in 2021. He was a visiting student at Harvard University during the spring semester of 2019 with a scholarship from Fulbright-FCT and completed the Advanced Studies Program in the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in 2016. He was an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Nova SBE and at Nova School of Law. Between 2019 and 2021, João served as a technical advisor for Economic Affairs in the cabinet of the Secretary of State Assistant to the Portuguese Prime-Minister. João presented his scientific work in conferences such as the European Economic Association Congress, the Winter Meeting of the Econometric Society, the Royal Economic Society Conference, the Urban Economics Association Conference, the European Association of Labour Economics, the European Public Choice Meeting, the Economic History Society Conference, the Silvaplana Workshop in Political Economy, the International Institute of Public Finance Conference, the International Panel Data Conference, the Midwest Political Science Association Conference, the conference of the Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics, the Economic Science Association Conference, the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics Conference, the Comparative Analysis of Enterprise Data Conference, and the Portuguese Economic Journal Conference.
