Jane Risete Pires dos Santos Dias is a PhD student of the PhD Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) from the University of Coimbra. She completed her BSc (2016) and MSc (2018) degrees in Biomedical Sciences at Universidade da Beira Interior, where she received 2 merit awards. Since october 2019 she is a PhD Fellow at the RNA & Infection Laboratory, at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC/CIBB), University of Coimbra. Her PhD project is focused on the systematic identification and functional characterization of microRNAs controlling Salmonella Typhimurium infection, in particular with invasive non-typhoidal isolates. She published 2 papers in peer-reviewed journals, organized 2 scientific events and was part of a volunteer training group in scientific research for 2 years. Her areas of activity include: Microbiology; MicroRNAs; Host-pathogen interactions and High-content assays.
