Duarte Oliveira finished his Masters’ degree in Micro and Nanotechnology Engineering in November 2023, at NOVA University of Science and Technology, Lisbon. This degree culminating in a master’s dissertation focused on optimizing the hydrothermal synthesis of thermochromic metal oxide nanoparticles, where he gained experience with solution-based processes, deposition techniques and thermal, chemical and structural characterization methods, allowing him to work independently within a lab environment. He is knowledgeable in the optimization of solution-based synthesis of nano and microparticles, differential scanning calorimetry for thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy imaging, as well as low-cost deposition processes such as screen-printing, flexography and spray-coating. Currently, he is working in the field as a researcher fellow for two PRR projects at CENIMAT|i3N, titled Be.Neutral (Ref. C625244769-00462300) and R2U Technologies | Modular systems (Ref. C644876810-00000019), to develop highly stable reversible thermochromic coatings based on transition metal and ionic liquid complexes optimized for low-temperature deposition processes.
